ACCESS Academy Students Protest Proposed Closure

(Portland, OR)  --  Students at ACCESS Academy in northeast Portland are protesting the proposed closure of their school.  Students staged a walkout yesterday morning, asking officials to keep their school open.  The Portland Public Schools District is planning to shut down the academy to make room for new schools.  If that happens, students from ACCESS will be split up and assigned to eight different Portland schools.  District officials are expected to vote on the issue next week.
