(Portland, OR) -- The state of Oregon is getting an extension on complying with the federal Real ID program. The federal government has granted the extension to Oregon, Washington and 15 other states, giving them until next October to comply. That means Oregon residents will be able to use their driver's licenses to board airline flights for a little while longer. The Real ID program passed after nine-eleven requires people to have federally approved IDs showing U.S. citizenship in order to board flights or enter government buildings.
