(Portland, OR) -- Governor Kate Brown is calling on Congress to issue a long-term reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program. Brown issued a statement yesterday telling lawmakers to "get it done," citing bipartisan support for the CHIP program. Congress voted yesterday to approve nearly three-billion-dollars to keep the CHIP program up and running through March of 2018. The money is part of a short-term spending bill to keep the federal government open. Congress failed to re-authorize funding for the program in September.
