Appeals Court Upholds Fine For Bakers Who Refused Gay Couple

(Salem, OR)  --  A pair of Gresham bakers will have to pay for refusing to serve a lesbian couple.  The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld a decision to have Melissa and Aaron Klein pay a lesbian couple 135-thousand dollars for refusing to bake them a cake.  A judge ruled that Sweetcakes by Melissa violated a law that prohibits businesses from discriminating based on sexual orientation.  The Kleins argued four years ago that baking a gay wedding cake went against their Christian beliefs.  They closed their business last year.
