(Portland, OR) -- A Washington County school district is assuring the public that it's not replacing the American flag with LGBTQ pride flags in its classrooms. Banks School District Superintendent Jeff Leo issued a news release earlier this week after rumors emerged concerning the rainbow flags some teachers have chosen to hang in their classrooms. The rumors were prompted by a parent who appeared on a radio show and falsely claimed that an American flag had been replaced by a gay pride flag in a classroom. Leo says some teachers hang the flags to show support for their LGBTQ students.
