Crews Remove Oil From Leaking Tank In Columbia River

(Portland, OR)  --  Cleanup is ongoing on an oil spill in the Columbia River in Astoria.  Crews and Coast Guard members on Monday gained access to the leaking tank believed to be left over from an old cannery operation on the pier near the Cannery Pier Hotel and Spa.  Coast Guard officials say crews found about two-thousand gallons of bunker sea oil inside the ten-thousand-gallon tank and began sucking the oil out.  The spill was first reported January 18th after hotel managers noticed an oily sheen on the water.
