(Portland, OR)  --  The Coast Guard is making progress in its cleanup of an oil spill in the Columbia River in Astoria.  Crews yesterday removed a boiler oil tank from a dilapidated pier next to the Cannery Pier Hotel and Spa.  The leaking tank is believed to be left over from an old cannery operation.  The spill was first reported January 18th after hotel managers noticed an oily sheen on the water.
