Sewer System Overflows Into Willamette River

(Portland, OR)  --  Environmental officials are advising residents to avoid a portion of the Willamette River after a sewer system overflow.  The Bureau of Environmental Services says recent rains caused the city's combined sewer system to start overflowing into the river yesterday morning.  Authorities say people should avoid the river downstream of the Ross Island Bridge at least two days after the overflow ends.
