(Undated) -- Call it the Cannabis Christmas. Or the Pot Smoker's Holiday. But stoners around the world simply refer to April 20th as "4/20" and a celebration of the cannabis culture. Urban legends abound about the origin of this pot-a-palooza. But it's often attributed to the Waldos, a group of high school students in California that set out in 1971 to find a rumored pot patch planted by Coast Guardsmen on Point Reyes. They reportedly met after school at 4:20 p.m. to search and get high, but never found the patch.
