(Portland, OR) -- Students at Portland State University are protesting armed campus officers as fall classes get underway today. A group of students plan to hold a protest at noon to call for the school to disarm campus police officers. The protest comes after campus police shot and killed Jason Washington in June while he was trying to break up a fight. Police opened fire on him after he bent over to pick up a gun that had fallen out of his holster. Washington reportedly had a concealed carry permit for the gun.
