Mayor Condon Addresses Detainment Of Portland Comedian

(Spokane, WA)  --  The mayor of Spokane, Washington is calling for a national conversation about immigration following the detainment of a Portland comedian by border patrol agents there.  Mayor David Condon released a statement late Tuesday night saying the detainment of Mohanad Elshieky at Spokane's Intermodal Facility Sunday has become part of the national debate about immigration.  He added the incident has raised questions that require a national conversation and a national solution.  Elshieky tweeted that he was on a Greyhound bus Sunday morning when agents removed him and interrogated him for 20 minutes before falsely insisting his asylum papers were fake.  The agents reportedly let him go on a warning after he threatened legal action.
