Oregon Moving Closing To Banning Plastic Shopping Bags

(Salem, OR)  --  Oregon is getting closer to banning plastic shopping bags.  House Bill 2509 passed out of committee earlier today and will head to a full House floor vote.  Under the legislation, businesses would be prohibited from giving customers single-use plastic checkout bags, and single-use paper bags would come with a five-cent fee.  Sixteen Oregon cities already have similar ordinances in effect.
