Washington County Sheriff Pulls Out Of Mutual Aid Pact With Portland Police

(Washington County, OR)  --  Washington County Sheriff Pat Garrett is withdrawing from a mutual aid pact his department had with police in Portland.  The Oregonian reports that Washington County deputies will not take any enforcement action in Portland, unless it involves something with direct ties to their own cases.  The decision comes after a one-million-dollar judgment against Washington County after deputies wounded a man while helping Portland Police with a search warrant.  Clackamas County is reportedly considering the same action.
