(Portland, OR) -- The U.S. Coast Guard is reminding boaters in the Pacific Northwest to be safe this Fourth of July weekend. The Coast Guard says it will be conducting routine patrols over the holiday weekend on various waterways throughout the region. Crews will be focusing especially on the Strait of Juan de Fuca along with the Puget Sound, Columbia River and Willamette River. Boaters are reminded to never drink while operating a moving vessel and to remain aware of all the rules on sharing the waterway.
