Police ID Suspect Killed By Police In Southeast Portland

(Portland, OR)  --  Police are releasing the identity of a man who was shot and killed by police in southeast Portland.  The Portland Police Bureau says Officer Gary Doran shot and killed Lane Christopher Martin during an incident Tuesday afternoon, just one day before Martin's 32nd birthday.  Police responded to the area of 122nd Avenue and Glisan on reports that Martin tried to break into a car.  Responding officers found Martin waving an ax and fired beanbag rounds at him, prompting him to allegedly run off.  Police say that's when Officer Doran opened fire on him.  He's been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
