(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teachers are set to meet today for the first time since January 16th.  The two sides scheduled today's talks after meeting with Mayor Charlie Hales yesterday.  Portland Public Schools spokesman Robb Cowie tells the "Oregonian" the meeting will not involve mediators and will not include contract negotiations, but will "be reflective on where have we been, where are we at now, and then where will we go?"  The school district and the union have been negotiating in an effort to avoid a teacher strike, with salaries and class sizes being the main points of contention.
