(Salem, OR) -- The Oregon Employment Department says the state's jobless rate in January was seven percent, down from seven-point-one percent in December. The department says Oregon employers added about one-thousand jobs in January, with the construction and leisure & hospitality industries leading the way in job growth. The number of public-sector jobs fell by 15-hundred more than predicted. The January unemployment rate of seven percent compares to Oregon's eight-point-three-percent jobless rate in January 2013.
