(Salem, OR) -- Governor John Kitzhaber says Oregon will not experience cuts in food-stamp benefits included in the federal farm bill. The governor's office says that means some 100-thousand households throughout the state won't see the previously-expected 58-dollar monthly reduction in food-stamp benefits. To avoid the cuts, Oregon is changing the way the state allocates federal energy-assistance dollars. The state will spend two-million dollars to avoid 56-million dollars in food-stamp benefit cuts.
