From the college diamond…5th ranked Oregon State beat Indiana 4-to-1 yesterday in Surprise, Arizona. Ridgeview graduate George Mendazona made his first collegiate start at second-base for OSU going hitless in two at-bats. The Beavers, 4-0, remain in the desert, and face Nebraska Thursday for the first of 4-games in the ‘Pac-12 versus Big-10’ Challenge with the Cornhuskers and Ohio State.

Elsewhere, the Ducks beat Fresno State last night in the central Valley, 3-2. Oregon starts the season 2-and-2 and heads to San Diego State for 4-games in the Tony Gwynn Classic Friday.

The Oregon Softball team jumps out to a 9-and-0 start as the Lady Ducks fly to Hawaii for 4-games Thursday. And, Oregon State’s softballers are 6-and-2 and resume preseason play in Palm Springs Friday.
