College Basketball

For the second year in a row, the Oregon Ducks are in the Elite-8 and will play for the Midwest Regional Championship in the NCAA Men’s college basketball tournament.

Thanks to another big time performance from sophomore guard Tyler Dorsey the Ducks set a school record 32nd win holding off Michigan last night in Kansas City, 69-68.

Dorsey scored a team-high 20 points including 5 three-point field goals, and forward Jordan Bell contributed a ‘double-double’ with 16-points and 13-rebounds.

Oregon shot a blistering 47-percent from three point land, and only committed 5 turnovers on the night.

Last year, it was Oklahoma that ended Oregon’s run in the Regional Final. Next up, the Ducks face #1 ranked and top seed Kansas in the Midwest Title game Saturday at 549pm here on KBND. Kansas blew out Purdue, 98-66.

Elsewhere…Gonzaga pulls out a 61-58 win over West Virginia and will face Xavier Saturday for the West Regional Title. Arizona knocked out by Xavier, 73-71. The Zags and Xavier tipoff at 309pm tomorrow in Santa Clara.

There are 4 other Regional Semifinal games today beginning with North Carolina playing Butler at 409pm, followed by Baylor meeting Cinderella South Carolina. At 639pm, UCLA takes on Kentucky in Memphis and the nightcap is Wisconsin meeting Florida.

Meantime…The Women’s tournament continues today and tomorrow. Oregon challenges 3rd seed Maryland tomorrow morning at 836am televised on ESPN. Later in the day at 3pm, Oregon State meets Florida State in Stockton, also seen on ESPN. And, UCLA takes on U-Conn who has won 109 straight games and is shooting for their 12th Title and 5th straight.
