(Corvallis, OR) -- Oregon State hired Washington offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith as its football coach. The 38-year-old Smith is a former OSU quarterback, starting four years after walking on. He was the MVP of the Fiesta Bowl when the Beavers topped Notre Dame to finish the 2000 season 11-and-1. Oregon State finished last season 1-and-11 and departed ways with head coach Gary Anderson midway through the season. Smith agreed to a five-year contract.
