Former Mariner Leroy Stanton Identified As Man In Fatal Crash

(Florence, SC)  --  Leroy Stanton is being identified as the South Carolina man killed in a single-car accident March 13th.  The 72-year-old was with the Mariners in their first two seasons of existence, starting in 1977.  He played nine major league seasons with the Angels, Mets and M's.  Stanton was part of the 1971 trade that sent him, Nolan Ryan and two others to the California Angels.  He was a career .244 hitter.
