Oregon Visits Utah Tonight

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Ducks are back on the hardwood tonight when they visit Utah.  Oregon is coming off a 78-58 win over Washington State.  The Ducks are 12-and-8 and 3-and-4 in conference play.

Trail Blazers Take Down Jazz

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored 36 points and doled out 11 assists to lead the Trail Blazers to a 132-105 win over the Jazz in Portland.  C.J. McCollum added 30 in the win.  Portland improved to 32-and-20 and will have some time off before they host the Heat on Tuesday.

Trail Blazers Host Jazz Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers continue their four-game homestand tonight, welcoming the sizzling Utah Jazz to the Moda Center.  Portland has won nine of its last 12.  The Jazz have won 11 of their last 13.  Utah center Rudy Gobert leads the NBA with 41 double-doubles.  After hosting the Jazz, the Blazers are off the court until a February 5th home game against the Miami Heat.  

Lillard, Curry In Three-Point Contest

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and Seth Curry have been invited to participate in the three-point contest at the NBA All-Star weekend beginning February 15th in Charlotte.  Lillard, who is eighth in the NBA with 142 treys this season, participated in the 2014 three-point contest, but did not win.  Seth will compete against his older brother Stephen Curry, the Golden State superstar who won the 2015 contest.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State will play tomorrow night at Colorado in Boulder in a Pac-12 game.  The Beavers are coming off a 79-69 loss Saturday to Washington in Corvallis.  The Beavers started Pac-12 play 3-and-0, but have lost three of their last four to drop to 12-and-7 and 4-and-3 in the Pac-12.  Colorado is 11-and-8 and 2-and-5.  OSU will play five of its final nine conference games in Corvallis.

Oregon State Catcher Named Preseason All-American

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Baseball America put Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman on its first-team preseason All-America Team.  Rutschman is also the consensus pick to go first overall in the MLB June draft.  The Beavers begin defense of their 2018 College World Series championship on February 15th against New Mexico in Surprise, Arizona.

Oregon Beats Washington State

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon knocked off Washington State 78-58 in a Pac-12 game last night in Eugene.  Louis King topped the Ducks with 22 points.  Kenny Wooten contributed 20 points to the win.  Oregon improved to 12-and-8 and is 3-and-4 in the Pac-12.  The Ducks will play again Thursday at Utah.

Chiefs Wide Receiver, Former Duck Arrested On Drug Related Charges

(Allen County, KS)  --  Chiefs wide receiver and former Oregon Ducks player De'Anthony Thomas has been arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession in Allen County, Kansas.  He was released from jail after bond was posted yesterday.  Thomas broke his leg in an October practice and did not play the remainder of the season, his fifth with Kansas City.  The Chiefs drafted Thomas in the fourth round in 2014 out of Oregon.  He rushed for 1,890 yards and 26 touchdowns and caught 113 passes for 1,296 yards and 15 touchdowns in three years with Oregon.  He also returned four kickoffs and one punt for a touchdown with the Ducks.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State lost 79-69 to Washington at home on Saturday.  Stephen Thompson Junior scored 30 points in defeat.  The Beavers have lost three of their four to drop to 12-and-7 and 4-and-3 in the Pac-12.  The Beavers will play Thursday at Colorado. 
 

Oregon Assistant Football Coach Leaving

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon wide receivers coach Michael Johnson is leaving to join the Mississippi State staff.  Johnson has been with the Ducks the past two seasons.  He is the second Oregon football assistant to leave this month.  Outside linebackers coach Cort Dennison left for a job at Louisville.

Trail Blazers Face Suns Tonight

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Trail Blazers will meet the Suns tonight in Phoenix.  Portland will try to rebound from a 123-114 loss Tuesday at Oklahoma City.  The Suns are 11-and-38, the worst record in the Western Conference, and have lost five straight and 12 of 14.  The Blazers have won their last seven matchups with the Suns.  Portland is 29-and-20 and in third place in the Northwest Division.

Timbers Open Training Camp

(Beaverton, OR)  --  Training Camp is underway for the Timbers.  Portland is preparing for the upcoming season as they look to avenge a loss to Atlanta United in the MLS Cup.  Twenty-six players participated in the first day of training cramp.  The club will train at home for a week before heading out to Costa Rica and eventually Tucson, Arizona.

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Damian Lillard scored 34 points to lead the Trail Blazers in a 123-114 loss to the Thunder in Oklahoma City.  C.J. McCollum added 31 in the defeat.  The Trail Blazers fell to 29-and-20.  They will visit the Suns tomorrow night.

Edgar Martinez Named To 2019 Baseball Hall Of Fame

(Seattle, WA)  --  Former Mariners great Edgar Martinez is finally going to the Hall of Fame.  The designated hitter received 85.4-percent of the vote and will join a class that features Mariano Rivera, Mike Mussina and the late Roy Halladay.  Martinez hit .312 for his career with 309 career home runs in addition to two American League batting titles.

Blazers Win At Utah

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Damian Lillard scored 26 points to help the Trail Blazers top the Jazz 109-104 in Salt Lake City.  Jusuf Nurkic [[ you-SUF nur-KITCH ]] scored 17 of his 22 points in the third quarter.  He also blocked four shots in the quarter, as Portland scored 39 points to take control.  The Blazers have won three straight and seven of nine.  They will play tonight at Oklahoma City.

Porter Returns To Coaching

(Columbus, OH)  --  Caleb Porter is back coaching the Columbus Crew in the MLS after sitting out last year.  He abruptly announced in November 2017 he was stepping down as the Portland Timbers head coach after five years with the club.  Porter replaces Gregg Berhalter, who is the new U.S. National Team coach, at Columbus.  The Timbers will play April 20th in Columbus.

Oregon State Picks Up In-State Football Recruit

(Corvallis, OR)  --  North Bend offensive lineman Jacob Ferenczi committed to Oregon State.  The 6-foot-6, 270-pounder becomes the sixth in-state football recruit committing to the Beavers for the 2019 class. 

Beavers Have Bad Arizona Trip

(Tucson, AZ)  --  Oregon State was flying high when it traveled to Arizona for a two-game trip.  The Beavers, however, fell 82-71 to Arizona Saturday in Tucson.  They lost 70-67 in the first leg of the trip at Arizona State.  They return home Thursday with an 11-and-6 record and 3-and-2 in the Pac-12.  OSU's next game will be against Washington State.

Blazers face Jazz Tonight

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Trail Blazers will try to win their third straight tonight when they face the Jazz at Utah.  Portland is coming of a 128-112 win Friday over New Orleans at the Moda Center.  The Blazers are 6-and-2 in their last eight.  They will play their next three on the road.

Ducks Split Two Games In Arizona

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Oregon dropped a 78-64 verdict Saturday at Arizona State.  The Ducks won 59-54 on the first top of their Arizona journey.  They return on Thursday to Eugene to host Washington.  Oregon is 11-and-7 and 2-and-3 in the Pac-12.

Beavers' Rally Comes Up Short

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Oregon State fell behind by 18 points, but trimmed the lead to one point before coming up short in a 70-67 loss at Arizona State.  Tres Tinkle hit a three-pointer with 22 seconds remaining to get the Beavers within 68-67.  Ethan Thompson missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have tied the game.  Tinkle and Thompson each scored 21 points.  OSU fell to 11-and-5 and 3-and-1 in the Pac-12.  It was OSU's 10th straight loss in Tempe.  The Beavers will play Arizona in Tucson tomorrow.

Blazers Host Pelicans Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will host the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at the Moda Center.  Portland is coming off a 129-112 win over the Cavaliers.  The Blazers are 5-and-2 in their last seven games.  They are 27-and-19 overall to sit in second place in the Northwest Division.  This is the fourth stop of a five-game trip for the Pelicans, who are 21-and-24.

(Tucson, AZ)  --  Oregon clipped Arizona 59-54 in a Pac-12 game in Tucson.  Paul White led the Ducks with 16 points, making seven of 10 field goal attempts.  Victor Bailey Junior contributed 13 points and Louis King 10 to the win.  Kenny Wooten had five points and seven rebounds after missing four games with a fractured jaw.  Oregon improved to 11-and-6 and 2-and-2 in conference play.  The Ducks will play tomorrow at Arizona State.

Blazers Turn Back Cavaliers

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored 33 points and Jusuf Nurkic [[ NUR-kitch ]] had his first career triple-double as the Trail Blazers beat the Cavaliers 129-112 in Portland.  Nurkic had 10 points, 10 boards and 10 assists, plus five blocks.  C.J. McCollum netted 19 points and Jake Layman 18 for Portland, which ended a two-game skid.  The Blazers host the New Orleans Pelicans tomorrow night.

Oregon State Picks Up Juco Defensive End

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Fullerton College defensive end James Rawls announced on Twitter he is coming to Oregon State.  He joins the 2019 recruiting class.  He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds.

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Oregon State will meet Arizona State tonight in Tempe.  The Beavers are 11-and-4 and have won their first three Pac-12 games for the first time in 26 years.  They beat rival Oregon on the road and swept UCLA and USC to begin conference play.  The Beavers have lost nine straight at Arizona State.  On Saturday, they will play at Arizona, which is 4-and-0 in the Pac-12.  OSU has lost 12 of its last 13 games to the Wildcats.

Timbers To Train In Costa Rica

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will depart for San Jose, Costa Rica on January 30th for 11 days of preseason training.  Portland will play games on February 4th and February 7th against Costa Rican teams.  The Timbers will round up their preseason training in Tucson from February 11th through February 23rd.  They will play four games in Tucson before returning to Portland.  The Timbers will open their MLS season on March 2nd at the Colorado Rapids.

Beavers Facing Rugged Arizona Trip

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers are 11-and-4 and have won their first three Pac-12 games for the first time in 26 years.  They beat rival Oregon and swept the two Los Angeles schools to open conference play.  Oregon State faces a tough trip this week.  It will play tomorrow night at Arizona State.  The Beavers have lost nine straight in Tempe.  On Saturday, they will play at Arizona, which is 4-and-0 in the Pac-12.  OSU has lost 12 of its last 13 games to the Wildcats.

(Portland, OR)  -- The Blazers will host the Cavaliers tonight at the Moda Center.  Cleveland is coming with a road victory over the Lakers to snap a 12-game losing streak.  The Cavs are 9-and-35, the worst record in the NBA.  The Blazers lost their last two on the road,  but have won four straight at home.  They are 18-and-7 at the Moda Center.

Kings Rule Over Blazers

(Sacramento, CA)  -- Damian Lillard scored 35 points, but it was not enough for the Trail Blazers, who lost 115-107 to the Kings in Sacramento.  Evan Turner contributed 14 points off the bench in the loss.  The Blazers have lost two in-a-row after a four-game winning streak ended.  Portland is 26-and-19 overall and will host the Cleveland Cavaliers tomorrow night.

Ducks Set Spring Game

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks will close out spring football practice on April 20th with the spring game at Autzen Stadium.  The Ducks are coming off a 9-and-4 season, including a 7-6 win over Michigan State in the Redbox Bowl.
 

Timbers Select Sierakowski In SuperDraft

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers added forward Ryan Sierakowski out of Michigan State in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.  Sierakowski was taken with the 23rd overall selection.  The Timbers added depth to the forward spot after the losses of Fanendo Adi and Samuel Armenteros.

Trail Blazers Fall To Nuggets, Visit Kings Tonight

(Denver, CO)  --  Damian Lillard paced the Trail Blazers with 26 points as they fell 116-113 to the Nuggets in Denver.  C.J. McCollum added 18 for the Trail Blazers, who saw their four-game win streak come to an end.  They will be back on the road tonight when they visit the Kings in Sacramento.

Oregon State Knocks Off UCLA

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Ethan Thompson and Stephen Thompson Junior each scored 17 points while also both picking up six assists and six rebounds as the Beavers took down UCLA 79-66 in Corvallis on Sunday.  The Beavers improved to 3-and-0 in conference play and 11-and-4 on the season.  OSU visits Arizona State on Thursday.

Oregon Dismantles USC

(Eugene, OR)  --  Louis King scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lift Oregon to an 81-60 win over USC in Eugene.  Paul White also chipped in 19 for the Ducks.  Oregon picked up their first conference win of the season to improve to 10-and-6 on the campaign.  The Ducks visit Arizona on Thursday.

Blazers End Homestand Tonight Against Hornets

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will wrap up a five-game homestand tonight when they host the Charlotte Hornets at Moda Center.  Portland has won three straight and five of six.  The Blazers are 25-and-17 overall, sitting third in the Northwest Division. The Blazers will play Sunday in Denver.

Oregon State Downs USC In OT

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Stephen Thompson scored a career-high 34 points as Oregon State knocked off USC 79-74 in overtime in Corvallis.  Tres Tinkle, who leads the Beavers in scoring, rebounds and assists, sat out the game with an ankle injury.  OSU is 10-and-4 overall and 2-and-0 in the Pac-12.  The Beavers will host UCLA Sunday night.  OSU has not started 3-and-0 in conference play since the 1992-93 season.

Timbers Preparing For MLS Draft

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Portland Timbers will pick 23rd overall in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft with the first two rounds today in Chicago.  Portland also has the 47th, 71st and 95th overall selections.

Ducks Blow Big Lead Late, Lose To UCLA

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks blew a nine-point advantage with 51 seconds left in a stunning 87-84 overtime loss to UCLA in Eugene.  Louis King scored a career-best 22 points and hauled down 10 rebounds in the loss.  Oregon dropped to 9-and-6 overall and 0-and-2 in the Pac-12.  The Ducks will host USC Sunday.

Former Oregon Player Suing School, Former Coaches

(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon football player Doug Brenner is suing the University of Oregon, former head football coach Willie Taggart, former strength coach Irele Oderinde and the NCAA.  He is seeking eleven million and five hundred thousand dollars in damages.  Brenner filed an 18-page suit alleging negligence from off-season workouts that resulted in rhabdomyolysis and other injuries.  Brenner was one of three Ducks' players hospitalized after January 2017 workouts.

Blazers Beat Bulls

(Portland, OR)  --  C.J. McCollum scored a game-high 24 points and Damian Lillard added 16 points and 10 assists as the Trail Blazers topped the Bulls 124-112 in Portland.  Reserves Seth Curry had 17 points and Zach Collins 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds in the victory.   The Blazers have won five of their last six.  Portland winds up a five-game homestand tomorrow night against Charlotte.

MLS SuperDraft Set To Take Place Friday

(Chicago, IL)  --  The MLS SuperDraft will go down Friday in Chicago.  Portland owns the 23th overall pick in the first round.  The draft will feature four rounds and 96 selections total.  Expansion FC Cincinnati will own the first pick in this year's draft.

Trail Blazers Host Bulls Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers return to the floor tonight when they host the Bulls.  Portland picked up a 111-101 victory over the Knicks on Monday night.  The Trail Blazers have won four of five to improve to 24-and-17.

Trail Blazers Take Down Knicks

(Portland, OR)  --  Jusuf Nurkic scored 20 points to lead the Trail Blazers to a 111-101 win over the Knicks in Portland.  Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum each added 17 points in the win.  The Trail Blazers improved to 24-and-17 and have won four of five.  They will host the Bulls tomorrow night.
 

Former Oregon State Coach Erickson Named To College Football Hall Of Fame

(Undated)  --  The 2019 College Football Hall of Fame class has been announced. Among the inductees is former Oregon State head coach Dennis Erickson.  Erickson spent two seasons with the Beavers from 1999 to 2002 and finished with a 31-and-17 record.  He coached the Beavers to an 11-win season and claimed the Fiesta Bowl in 2000.

Pete Carroll Fine With Schottenheimer's Game Plan

(Renton, WA)  --  Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has no issue with the way Brian Schottenheimer called plays in their 24-22 playoff loss to the Cowboys on Saturday.  Carroll said anything that went wrong should fall on his own shoulders and not on those of his offensive coordinator.  The Seahawks have drawn ire for their run-based scheme that limited the amount of passing plays for QB Russell Wilson.

Trail Blazers Host Knicks Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back in action when they host the Knicks tonight.  Portland picked up a 110-101 win over the Rockets on Saturday.  Portland is 23-and-17 on the season and has won three of its last four games.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Beavers picked up a 77-72 win in the Civil War with Oregon on Saturday.  The Beavers improved to 9-and-4 and will host USC on Thursday night.  Oregon fell to 9-and-5 and will welcome UCLA to town on Thursday.

'Bama and Clemson Square Off For National Championship Tonight

(Santa Clara, CA)  --  The National Championship is on the line between top-ranked Alabama and number-two Clemson in Santa Clara tonight.  Alabama defeated number-four Oklahoma 45-34 in the Orange Bowl while Clemson romped number-three Notre Dame 30-3 in the Cotton Bowl.  This is the third time in four years the two programs have met in the championship game.

Seahawks Prepare For Offseason

(Renton, WA)  --  After falling 24-22 to the Cowboys in the Wild Card round, the Seahawks' season is over.  Seattle will now turn their attention to the offseason and shift their focus toward free agency and the draft.  The Seahawks will have multiple key players hit the free agent market, including Earl Thomas, K.J. Wright and Frank Clark.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back on the floor as they host the Thunder tonight.  Portland has won two straight coming into tonight.  The Trail Blazers are 22-and-16 on the season.

Injury Brings Bol Bol's Oregon Career To A Close

(Eugene, OR)  --  According to multiple reports, Oregon center Bol Bol had surgery on his foot on Thursday.  The injury will keep him out the rest of the season and he will begin preparing for the upcoming NBA Draft.  Bol is expected to be one of the top prospects leading into June's draft.  The injury comes on the heels of forward Abu Kigab announcing that he is transferring from the program.

Original Blazers Owner Weinberg Passes Away

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Original Trail Blazers owner Larry Weinberg passed away at the age of 92.  He was part of a three-man group that helped bring basketball to Portland in 1970.  He was team president during the team's only championship in 1977.  He eventually sold the Blazers to Paul Allen, who recently passed away, in 1988.

Oregon, Oregon State Hoops Clash Tomorrow

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Civil War will take place tomorrow when Oregon and Oregon State clash in Eugene.  The 9-and-4 Ducks and 8-and-4 Beavers will both open conference play against each other.  The two teams split their games last season.

Former Seahawk Hutchinson Named Hall Of Fame Finalist

(Seattle, WA)  --  Former Seahawks guard Steve Hutchinson was named as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday.  Hutchinson mad three Pro Bowls and was named first-team All-Pro twice during his tenure with the Seahawks.  He also appeared in Super Bowl 40 against the Steelers.  The class will be officially announced during the weekend of Super Bowl 53.

Seahawks Leave For Dallas

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Seahawks are in Arlington as they prepare for their Wild Card tilt on the road against the Cowboys tomorrow.  Guard J.R. Sweezy still didn't practice on Thursday and is questionable for tomorrow's game.  Shaquill Griffin and Duane Brown both participated in Thursday's practice.  Fullback Tre Madden is doubtful to play.
 

Blazers Host Thunder Tomorrow

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers return to action tomorrow night as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder.  Portland is 22-and-16 and beat the Kings in overtime its last time out.  Friday's game opens a five-game homestand for the Blazers.

Oregon WR Mitchell Going Pro

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon receiver Dillon Mitchell is leaving to enter the NFL Draft.  Mitchell announced his decision yesterday on social media.  He caught 75 passes this season for nearly 12-hundred yards and 10 touchdowns.

Portland State Visits Montana State

(Bozeman, MT)  --  Portland State looks to snap a four-game slide as it visits Montana State tonight.  The Vikings are 5-and-7 on the season and has not won a game since beating Portland on December 5th.  Montana State is 4-and-8. 

Oregon F Kigab To Transfer

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon forward Abu Kigab is transferring from the program.  Multiple reports state Kigab will not join the team for conference play and has decided to leave the school.  Kigab, a sophomore, played in all 35 games for the Ducks last season.  He has averaged 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10 games for Oregon this season. 

Civil War Resumes Saturday

(Undated)  --  Civil War resumes on Saturday as Oregon hosts Oregon State in college hoops action.  The Ducks enter at 9-and-4 on the year and the Beavers sit at 8-and-4.  It's the Pac-12 opener for both teams.  Oregon State leads the series 187-162. 

Trail Blazers Edge Kings In OT

(Sacramento, CA)  --  Damian Lillard scored 25 points to lead the Trail Blazers to a 113-108 win in overtime over the Kings in Sacramento.  Jusuf Nurkic posted 24 points and 23 rebounds for Portland.  Seth Curry chipped in 18 off the bench for the Trail Blazers, who have won three of their last four.  Portland will host Oklahoma City on Friday.

Seahawks Continue Playoff Prep

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work as they prepare for their Wild Card tilt against the Cowboys in Dallas on Saturday.  Strong safety Delano Hill was placed on injured reserve with a hip fracture.  J.R. Sweezy and Shaquill Griffin's statuses for the game are up in the air.  Seattle defeated Dallas 24-13 at home in September.

Mariners, Kikuchi Agree To Deal

(Seattle, WA)   --  According to multiple reports, Yusei Kikuchi has agreed to a three-year deal with the Mariners.  The left-handed pitcher out of Japan was one of the top pieces on the market and was sought after by multiple teams.  Seattle has the option to turn the deal into a four-year extension in 2021.
