Blazers Beat Celtics For Fifth Straight Win

(Boston, MA)  --  Damian Lillard scored 33 points to lead the Trail Blazers to a 97-92 win over the Celtics in Boston.  Maurice Harkless contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds to the victory.  Portland has won five straight and is 4-and-0 to start this seven-game trip.  The Blazers will play tomorrow night in Toronto and Sunday in Charlotte.

Timbers Ready For Rapids

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will open their MLS season Saturday against the Rapids in Colorado.  Portland is looking to defend its Western Conference crown.  Portland won't play their first home game until June 1st due to expansions at Providence Park.

Oregon Hoops Hosts Arizona State Tonight

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon will host Arizona State on the hardwood tonight.  The Ducks will play the first of their final two home games.  Oregon is 15-and-12 and 6-and-8 in the Pac-12.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State will be looking to improve its tournament chances when it hosts Arizona tonight.  The Beavers are 17-and-9  and 9-and-5 in the Pac-12.  With a crowded field to get in, the Beavers need as many wins as they can get to get a NCAA bid. They will host Arizona Sunday in its home finale  The Beavers lost to both Arizona schools on the road in January.

Frank Clark Wants Bruce Irvin Back In Seattle

(Seattle, WA)  --  Impending free agent Frank Clark wants former Seahawks Bruce Irvin to come back home.  Clark is expected to be franchise tagged before the window closes and he's already trying to recruit Irvin on social media.  After Irvin responded on Twitter to the suggestion of playing for the Seahawks again, Clark tweeted at him about how good they can be if he returns.

Mariners, Rangers Play To Draw

(Peoria, AZ)  --  Jake Fraley and Chris Mariscal hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force a 4-4 draw with the Rangers in Peoria.  Starter Marco Gonzalez threw three scoreless innings allowing just one hit.  Seattle will take the field against the Indians in Goodyear today.

QB's, Wide Receivers Arrive To Combine Today

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  Quarterbacks and wide receivers arrive to the NFL Scouting Combine along with tight ends in Indianapolis today.  Special teams players along with offensive linemen and running backs arrived on Tuesday. The Seahawks own the 21st overall pick in the first round of the upcoming draft and will be scouting a variety of positions.

Trail Blazers Best Cavs On Road

(Cleveland, OH)  --  CJ McCollum scored a game-high 35 points, hitting on seven-of-eight treys, as the Trail Blazers clipped the Cavaliers 123-110 in Cleveland.  Damian Lillard contributed 21 points to the win.  Reserve Seth Curry made all five of his shots beyond the arc and finished with 15 points in 16 minutes.  Portland has won four straight and the first three of this seven-game trip.  The Blazers will play tomorrow night in Boston.

Oregon State Sitting Outside On NCAA Bubble

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State desperately needs a sweep of Arizona on Thursday and Arizona State on Saturday in Corvallis to keep its slim hopes alive for a NCAA tournament bid.  The Beavers are third in the Pac-12 with a 9-and-5 record and 17-and-9 overall.  Arizona State is second in the Pac-12 with a 10-and-5 record and 19-and-8 overall.  Oregon State lost to both Arizona schools on the road in January.

Timbers To Open MLS Play Saturday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will open MLS play Saturday at the Colorado Rapids.  The Timbers went 4-1-and-1 in preseason.  Portland is the defending Western Conference champs.  With Providence Park going through a fifty-million dollar expansion and adding 4,000 seats, the Timbers will not play at home until June 1st.

Blazers Start Trip With Win Over Nets

(Brooklyn, NY)  --  Jusuf Nurkic had 27 points and 12 rebounds as the Trail Blazers defeated the Nets 113-99 in Brooklyn to open a season-long seven-game trip.  CJ McCollum scored 21 points in the win.  Enes Kanter had 18 points and nine rebounds in his Portland debut.  The Blazers are 9-and-2 in their last 11 meetings with the Nets.  Portland will meet the Sixers tomorrow in Philadelphia.

Ducks Stumble At Southern Cal

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Ducks dropped a 66-49 decision to USC in Los Angeles in a Pac-12 game. That is the fewest Oregon points in a Pac-12 game in six years.  Louis King led Oregon with 16 points.  The Ducks fell to 15-and-11 and 6-and-7 in the Pac-12.  They will play tomorrow at UCLA.

Oregon State Loses By A Point At UCLA

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Tres Tinkle had 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the Ducks' 68-67 loss at UCLA in Pauley Pavilion.  Stephen Thompson Jr. scored a game-high 21 points in defeat.  The loss drops Oregon State to 16-and-9 overall and 8-and-5 in the Pac-12.  The Beavers play tomorrow  at USC.

Timbers Will Play Preseason Game Tomorrow

(Tucson, AZ)  --  The Portland Timbers will face Real Salt Lake in a friendly tomorrow in Tucson to conclude their preseason training in Arizona.  Portland will open the MLS season March 2nd at the Colorado Rapids.

(Undated)  --  Rain, sleet and hail postponed the game between defending College World Series champion Oregon State and Nebraska in Surprise,  Arizona.  The game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader today at Surprise Stadium.  The Beavers are 4-and-0. 


The Oregon Ducks will play Saint Mary's today in their home opener of a four-game series in Eugene.  The Portland Pilots will play North Dakota State and UT Rio Grande Valley today at Edinburg, Texas in the Al Ogletree Classic.

Paul George Questions Nike

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Thunder forward Paul George said he reached out to Nike after Zion Williamson's injury in Wednesday's game against Carolina.  Williamson was wearing George's model PG 2.5 signature shoe when his left foot tore through the shoe, leading to a right-knee injury for the Duke star.  George's shoe is popular with college programs.  Nike stock dropped about one percent or 89 cents.

Kanter Joins Blazers

(Brooklyn, NY)  --  Enes Kanter will be active tonight for the Trail Blazers' game at Brooklyn.  He signed with Portland after the Knicks released him before the All-Star break.  The 26-year-old will be a backup center.  He had averaged 14 points a game this season for the Knicks and made 23 starts.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Beavers will play their next two basketball games in Los Angeles.  Oregon State will be at Pauley Pavilion tonight against UCLA.  The Beavers have lost 54 of 62 games against the Bruins played in L.A.  They beat UCLA last month 79-66 at Gill Coliseum.  OSU has not swept UCLA in a season since 1987-88.  On Saturday afternoon, the Beavers are at USC.  The Beavers are 16-and-8 overall and at 8-and-4 are second in the Pac-12.

Timbers Fall In Preseason Game

(Tucson, AZ)  --  The Portland Timbers lost 1-0 to the Phoenix Rising of the USL at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson.  It was the Timbers' first preseason loss.  Portland will wrap up its exhibition play on Saturday against Real Salt Lake, also in Tucson.

(Undated)  --  Defending College World Series champion Oregon State is scheduled to open a four-game series today with Nebraska in Surprise, Arizona.  The game, however, is in danger of being postponed with an 80 percent chance of rain today in Phoenix.  The Beavers are 4-and-0,  sweeping the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic at Surprise Stadium.  The Oregon Ducks will play Saint Mary's tomorrow in their home opener in Eugene.  It will be the opener of a four-game series, which includes a Saturday doubleheader.  Oregon lost two-of-three at number-eight Texas Tech last weekend to start the season.

Moreira Joins Timbers' Camp

(Tucson, AZ)  -- Paraguayan right back Jorge Moreira has reported to the Timbers' preseason training camp in Tucson.  He is 29 and had knee surgery in October 2017 that sidelined him for 10 months.  Portland will open its MLS season on March 2nd against Colorado.

Two games to play in the final week of the high school regular season basketball schedule with automatic playoff berths, and ‘Play-In’ bids up for grabs.

 

Tonight, Summit hosts Bend in the Battle of the Parkway with both teams needing a win for a shot at a playoff. Mt. View hosts 2nd place McNary where a Cougs win could put them in a tie for fourth place.Same matchups on the girls side who tipoff first at 5pm preceding the boys games.

 

Elsewhere, Ridgeview hosts Pendleton in the 5A. In the 4A Tri-Valley Conference Madras boys welcome Estacada with the White Buffs needing a win to better their Play-In chances. 

 

In the 1A State Playoffs, tonight Trinity Lutheran hosts Jordan Valley at 530, and North Lake ventures to Riddle. The winners advance to the 2nd Round Friday.

 

On the Girls side…La Pine’s girls play Saturday night in the State Playoffs at Burns. Country Christian hosts a 2nd Round playoff Saturday night.

(Undated)  --  Defending College World Series champion Oregon State shut out New Mexico 5-0 to conclude the College Baseball Classic in Surprise, Arizona.  Preston Jones went 3-for-3 and led off the game with a home run.  The number-10 Beavers are 4-and-0.  OSU will remain in Surprise for a four-game series with Nebraska beginning Thursday.  Freezing weather canceled the Oregon game against Texas Tech in Lubbock.  The Ducks lost two of three games to the Red Raiders.

Lillard Scores 18 In All-Star Game

(Charlotte, NC)  --  Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard scored 18 points for Team LeBron in a 178-164 victory over Team Giannis in the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte.  Lillard was 6-for-17 from the field with all of his shots beyond the arc.  He also had six rebounds and five assists in 25 minutes.

Beavers Sweep Civil War Series

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers thumped the Ducks 72-57 Saturday in a Civil War clash at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.  Stephen Thompson Jr. led Oregon State with 22 points.  Oregon State swept the series for the first time in nine years.  It won the first encounter 77-72 last month in Eugene.  OSU improved to 16-and-8 overall and are second in the Pac-12 with an 8-and-4 record.  The Ducks dropped to 15-and-10 and 6-and-6.  The Beavers will play Thursday at UCLA in Pauley Pavilion.  Oregon will play Thursday at USC.

(Undated)  --  Defending College World Series champion Oregon State romped Minnesota 13-1 in Surprise, Arizona to start the season 3-and-0. 
Adley Rutschman, who is projected to be the first overall pick in the June MLB draft, hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.  The Beavers will play New Mexico today at Surprise Stadium.  The Oregon Ducks lost 6-4 to number-eight Texas Tech in Lubbock.  The Ducks and Red Raiders will meet again today to conclude a four-game series.  The Ducks will play their first home game Friday against Saint Mary's.

Oregon Owes Leavitt For Two More Years Of Contract

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt was dismissed with two years remaining on his contract as one of the highest paid football assistant coaches in the country.  Oregon still owes Leavitt two million and five-hundred thousand dollars.  The university said in a release that "private sources" will fund the money after head coach Mario Cristobal axed him.

Beavers, Ducks Open Baseball Season Today

(Undated)  --  Defending College World Series champion Oregon State will open its season today against New Mexico in Surprise, Arizona.  The Beavers will play their first seven games in Surprise, the spring training home of the Royals and Rangers.  Pat Bailey is the interim head coach after Pat Casey retired after 24 seasons.  The Oregon Ducks will open their season today with a four-game series at number-8 Texas Tech in Lubbock.  Oregon went 26-and-29 last season.

Leavitt leaving Oregon

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt will no longer be on the Ducks' football staff.  He was the sixth-highest paid assistant in the country at one million and seven-hundred thousand dollars and had two years left on his contract.  His departure circumstances remain unclear.   Safeties coach Keith Heyward is being promoted to replace Leavitt.  Leavitt interviewed in December for head coaching openings at Kansas State, Texas Tech and Colorado.
 

Blazers Sign Kanter To Bolster Bench

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers signed 6-foot-11 center Enes Kanter for the remainder of the season.  He began the season with the Knicks, making 23 starts, but was limited to three games in the 12 games before the trade deadline as the club shopped him around.  They released him last week when they failed to trade him.  Portland will use him as a backup center.  He has appeared in 560 NBA games and has been on three playoff teams.

Blazers Top Warriors Going Into Break

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers outscored the Warriors by 23 points in the fourth quarter to beat Golden State 129-107 in Portland.  Eight Blazers scored in double figures, led by Damian Lillard's 29 points.  Jake Layman scored 17 points off the Portland bench.  The Blazers take a 34-and-23 record into the NBA All-Star break.  They will open a seven-game trip on February 21st in Brooklyn.  Their next game at the Moda Center will be March 7th against the Thunder.

Timbers Defeat Sounds In Preseason

(Tucson, AZ)  --  The Portland Timbers defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-1 in a MLS preseason game in Tucson.  Diego Valeri scored on a penalty kick for the Timbers.  Jeremy Ebobisse got the game winner with an assist from Dairon Asprilla in the 88th minute.  The Timbers are in their third week of preseason.

Beavers, Ducks Open Baseball Season Friday

(Undated)  --  Defending College World Series champion Oregon State will open its season Friday against New Mexico in Surprise, Arizona.  The Beavers will play their first seven games in Surprise, the spring training home of the Royals and Rangers.  Pat Bailey is the interim head coach after Pat Casey retired after 24 seasons.  The Oregon Ducks will open its season Friday with a four-game series at Texas Tech.  Oregon went 26-and-29 last season.

(Undated)  --  Also in college hoops,  Portland State will host Northern Arizona on Thursday night in a Big Sky game.  The Portland Pilots will try to snap a 12-game losing streak Saturday when they host San Francisco.

Thunder Roll By Blazers

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Damian Lillard scored 31 points, but it was not enough as the Trail Blazers lost 120-111 to the Thunder in Oklahoma City.   Jake Layman scored 17 points off the Blazers' bench.  The Blazers lost for the third time in four games.  They will return home tomorrow night against Golden State and then embark on a seven-game trip after the All-Star break.

Oregon State Baseball Picked Third In Pac-12

(Undated)  --  Defending national champion Oregon State is ranked third in the coaches' preseason baseball Pac-12 poll.  UCLA is the preseason favorite, while Stanford comes in second.  The Beavers are ranked in the top 10 in most national polls.  They have an elite pitching staff fronted by Kevin Abel and Bryce Fehmel.  Catcher Adley Rutschman is projected to be the first overall pick in the June MLB draft.  Oregon State will open the season Friday against New Mexico in Surprise, Arizona.

Ducks, Beavers Meet Saturday

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Ducks and Beavers will meet Saturday in Corvallis in a Pac-12 rivalry.  The Ducks have won four of their last five to improve to 15-and-9 and 6-and-5 in the conference.  Oregon State is 15-and-8 overall and 7-and-4 in the conference.  The Beavers won the first encounter 77-72 in Eugene on January 5th.

Ducks Hire Football Recruiting Director

(Eugene, NE)  --  Oregon has hired Kenny Sanders as its football recruiting director.  He has been the Penn State assistant director of player personnel for the past five seasons.  Sanders replaces Stephen Field, who left last month to take a similar job at Louisville.

(Undated)  --  Also in college hoops,  Portland State lost 78-67 at Sacramento State.  The Vikings fell to 9-and-14.  They will host Northern Arizona on Thursday night in a Big Sky game.

Mavericks Rally To Nip Blazers

(Dallas, TX)  --  Damian Lillard led the all scorers with 30 points, but it was not enough as the Trail Blazers lost 102-101 to the Mavericks in Dallas.  Jusuf Nurkic [[ you-SUF nur-KITCH]] had 18 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.  Portland wasted a 15-point lead with 10 minutes left.  Portland is 4-and-2 in its last six games.  The Blazers will play tonight in Oklahoma City.

Oregon State Beats Cal

(Corvallis, OR)  -- The Beavers beat Cal 79-71 on Saturday in a Pac-12 game in Corvallis at Gill Arena.  Oregon State improved to 15-and-8 overall and 7-and-4 in the conference.  Stephen Thompson Junior led the team with 21 points.  The Beavers will host Oregon on Saturday.

Ducks Top Stanford

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks knocked off Stanford 69-46 in a Pac-12 game at Matthew Knight Arena.  It was the fewest points allowed by Oregon, which limited Stanford to 27.3 percent from the field.  Payton Pritchard led the Ducks with 20 points.  Oregon is 4-and-1 in its last five to improve to 15-and-9 overall and 6-and-5 in the conference.  The Ducks don't play until Saturday when they are at Oregon State.

(Undated)  --  Also in college hoops, tonight Portland State will be at Sacramento State.  The Portland Pilots lost 72-55 to Loyola Marymount at the Chiles Center.  The Pilots have lost 12 straight and are winless in 11 WCC games.
 

Blazers Turn Away Spurs

(Portland, OR)  --  CJ McCollum scored 30 points and had nine boards to lead the Trail Blazers to a 127-118 victory over the Spurs in Portland.  Damian Lillard contributed 24 points and nine assists to the win.  Rodney Hood added 14 points in his Blazers' debut.  Portland improved to 23-and-8 at home.  The Blazers will play the Mavs on Sunday in Dallas.  They will play nine of their next 10 on the road.

Blazers Acquire Forward From Kings

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers obtained forward Skal Labissiere [[ La-bee-SEE-AIR ]] from the Kings in a trade just before the NBA deadline.  Portland sent forward Caleb Swanigan to Sacramento.  Labissiere was the 28th the 2016 draft.  He has averaged 8 points and 4.5 rebounds in three NBA seasons.  He has played in only 13 games this season, averaging 2.8 points.  The Blazers chose Swanigan 26th overall in the 2017 draft. It was the second trade before the deadline for Portland.  The Blazers acquired Rodney Hood from the Cavs in another deal last weekend.

Ducks Face Stanford On Sunday

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks will host Stanford on Sunday in a Pac-12 contest.  Oregon is 14-and-9 and 5-and-5 in the conference.  The Ducks are coming off a 73-62 triumph over Cal on Wednesday in Eugene. 

Oregon State Falls To Stanford

(Corvallis, OR)  -- Oregon State lost 83-60 to Stanford at home in a Pac-12 game.  Tres Tinkle led OSU with 16, while Stephen Thompson Jr. had 15 points.  The Beavers dropped to 14-and-8 overall and 6-and-4 in conference play.  The Beavers will host Cal tomorrow afternoon in Corvallis.

Oregon Adds Four-Star Football Recruit

(Eugene, OR)  --  Memphis four-star defensive tackle Kristian Williams added his name to the Oregon football recruiting class.  He is listed at 6-foot-3, 297 pounds and had offers from several major colleges, including Tennessee and Ole Miss.  That gives the Ducks a 26-man class for 2019.  Rivals ranked the Oregon class seventh in the nation and tops in the Pac-12.  It is the first consensus top-10 football recruiting ranking in the school's history.

Hood Expected To Make Blazers' Debut Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  Rodney Hood is expected to be in the Trail Blazers' rotation tonight against the Spurs.  The 6-foot-7 small forward was acquired in a Sunday trade with Cleveland and did not play in the Tuesday loss to the Heat.

Blazers Facing Suns Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will host the Spurs tonight at the Moda Center.  Portland is coming off a 10-point loss Tuesday to the Miami Heat.  After facing San Antonio, the Blazers will play nine of their next 10 on the road.

Trail Blazers Will Play Hood

(Portland, OR)  --  Rodney Hood will be playing, not sitting.  The Blazers acquired Hood in a trade with the Cavaliers over the weekend.  Blazers coach Terry Stotts said when Hood is cleared, he would play.  He arrived in town yesterday for a physical and a crash course on learning the Portland system. Stotts did not elaborate on how the 26-year-old forward would fit into the rotation.  He was averaging 12.2 points this season with Cleveland.

Trail Blazers Acquire Hood From Cavs

(Portland, OR)  --  Several outlets report, the Trail Blazers are acquiring Rodney Hood in a deal with the Cavaliers.  Portland is sending Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin and second-round picks in 2021 and 2023 to Cleveland for Hood.  Hood has averaged 13 points in six NBA seasons.  He is averaging 12.2 points on 43 percent shooting from the floor this season.  The Cavs acquired Hood from the Jazz at last year's trade deadline.  He was a 2014 first-round pick of Utah.

Ducks Fall At Colorado

(Boulder, CO)  --  The Ducks fell 73-51 at Colorado in a Pac-12 game in Boulder.  Oregon trailed 40-to-17 at the intermission.  Louis King led the Ducks with 12 points.  Oregon dropped to 13-and-9 overall and to 4-and-5 in the conference.  The Ducks are back in Eugene on Wednesday against California.

Ducks Win At Utah

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Ducks won 78-72 at Utah in a Pac-12 game.  Will Richardson scored a career-high 19 points for Oregon. The Ducks rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first half to win.  The Ducks improved to 13-and-8 overall and 4-and-4 in the Pac-12.  They will play tomorrow night at Colorado.

Trail Blazers Guard Going To All-Star Game

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard has been selected to the NBA All-Star Game for the fourth time in his seven-year career.  He will be a Western Conference reserve.  The Trail Blazers guard is averaging 26.4 points, which ranks ninth in the NBA.  The All-Star Game will be February 17th in Charlotte.  He is the fourth Blazers player to be selected to at least four All-Star games. The others are Clyde Drexler, LaMarcus Aldridge and Sidney Wicks.  In other team news, the Blazers return to action on Tuesday at home against Miami.  Portland is 32-and-20 on the season, good for fourth in the West.
