UPDATE...Brown Recall Effort Fails; GOP May Try Again

SALEM, OR -- UPDATE
An effort to recall Oregon Governor Kate Brown has failed to gather enough signatures by the 5 pm Monday deadline.
The Oregon Secretary of State’s office examined 9 boxes of petitions delivered by Michael Cross, the chief sponsor of the ‘Flush Down Kate Brown’ Petition.
Just under 24 thousand signature sheets, with a maximum of 10 signatures each, were examined by staff, falling short of the more than 280 thousand signatures needed.
The Oregon Republican Party had also launched a recall effort against the governor, but did not turn in its signatures.
Chairman Bill Currier told KBND Talk Show Host Lars Larson they will likely try again but need to work out timing and other details.
No further action will be taken by the Secretary of State on either petition.
