The crews battling the Beachie Creek Fire received help from an early Fall rainstorm this week. The fire started in the Opal Creek Wilderness before spreading and destroying homes and communities in the Santiam Canyon. Fire Information Officer Scott Owen says the rain helped a lot and containment is 49-per cent. Owen says due to its size and complexity, the Beachie Creek Fire probably won’t be out until a slow moving October storm dumps rain or snow on the fire footprint.
