Officials in Crook County say they have now found a total of six wild horses shot and killed in remote areas east of Prineville. Deputy Sheriffs found three dead horses in mid-March. About a week later, deputies found a fourth wild horse that had been shot and killed in the same general area. That investigation lead to the discovery of two other carcasses of horses that had been dead for some time. The Crook County Sheriff’s Office is working with U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement officers following up on leads from the public.
