Oregon Driver's License Measure Fails

(Salem, OR)  --  Oregon voters are rejecting a measure that would allow people who can't prove their legal status in the United States to get four-year driver's cards.  Incomplete returns show the tally at 68 percent against and 32 percent in favor of Measure 88.  Supporters of the measure say it would make the streets safer by forcing people to learn driving rules and regulations and buy auto insurance.  Law-enforcement officials are among those who oppose the measure, saying it would reward illegal behavior.
