Swearing-in Held For New Portland Police Chief

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland has a new police chief with the new year.  A swearing-in ceremony was held yesterday for Larry O'Dea, who succeeds the retired Mike Reese.  O'Dea has previously said he wants to focus the police bureau more on community policing and establishing relationships between officers and businesses and neighborhoods.  Police Bureau officials say yesterday's ceremony also included promotions of two assistant chiefs, two commanders, five captains, eight sergeants, one detective, and three non-sworn Police Bureau members.
