Bill Would Require Cyclists To Pay Fee

(Salem, OR)  --  A measure being considered in the state Legislature would require bicycle riders in Oregon to register and pay a fee.  The measure would require all riders age 17 or older to take a safety test after registering and paying the ten-dollar annual fee.  Under the bill, bike riders who don't comply would be subject to a 250-dollar fine.  Supporters say the bill's purpose is to hold cyclists accountable for safety.
