Federal Aid To Assist Firefighting Efforts In Washington

(Fairchild AFB, WA)  --  Firefighting efforts in central and eastern Washington will benefit from an infusion of new equipment and fresh personnel from federal sources.  The "Spokesman-Review" reports a new firefighting mobilization center was established yesterday at Fairchild Air Force Base.  The base will be the staging area for 20 large fire engines and ten water tankers from Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado.  About 200 National Guard members will undergo critical fire training and be sent in to relieve fatigued firefighters.
