Portland Council Rejects Business License Fee Increase

(Portland, OR)  --  It appears a proposal by Mayor Charlie Hales to increase the Business License Fee in Portland won't be a part of the city's budget.  The Portland City Council has voted down the increase, which was part of the 501-million-dollar general-fund budget the mayor submitted last week.  The proposed increase was opposed by the Portland Business Alliance.  Hales says the city needs to continue to discuss ways to raise revenue to meet mounting needs.
