(Salem, OR) -- An Oregon soldier injured in Afghanistan is back in the U.S. to receive treatment. A GoFundMe page set up for 20-year-old Army soldier Christian Garcia says he's come out of preliminary surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland. Garcia received shrapnel wounds last week in a rocket propelled grenade attack in Afghanistan. His mother Tamarra Huerta of Salem tells KATU he's healing quickly and is expected to return to Afghanistan once he's recovered.
