(Salem, OR) -- Campfires and open flames are banned at Oregon state parks in response to the Substation Fire. That's the word from Governor Kate Brown, and comes after she declared a state of emergency. The ban applies to wood, charcoal and other flame sources that cannot be turned off with a valve. Liquid-fuel stoves and other valved devices are OK, but cannot be left unattended. Officials hope the ban will reduce further demands on limited resources.
