(Portland, OR) -- Portland's mayor is blasting Lyft, saying the ride-hailer is trying to detour around local regulations. Mayor Ted Wheeler was joined yesterday by Commissioner Chloe Eudaly in criticizing the firm for being behind a proposal they say would hurt consumer protections. Wheeler says the company's move through Salem would undermine local efforts to collect data to analyze Lyft's effect on climate change, among other things. OregonLive reports that a Lyft spokesperson says the company is committed to working with policymakers and regulators.
