Multnomah County Officials Out Amid Investigation

(Multnomah County, OR)  --  Two officials in Multnomah County's mental health division are out of a job amid an investigation into how they handled complaints of abuse.  Mental Health and Addiction Services Division Director David Hidalgo and Joan Rice were both placed on leave after an investigation found that two deaths at Unity Center for Behavioral Health were preventable.  County workers had received reports of serious abuse at the facility shortly after it opened in 2017, but those allegations may not have been handled properly.  The Oregonian reports that Hidalgo and Rice are both no longer employed by the county, though county leaders have not said whether they were fired.
