(Portland, OR)  --  Charges are being brought against a man accused in a 1997 rape.  A grand jury in Portland indicted Richard Ward on first-degree rape for allegedly attacking a 21-year-old woman.  Ward was already in custody in Arkansas on unrelated charges when the warrant was issued for his arrest.  Authorities say an untested sexual assault kit linked him to the crime.
