(North Bend, OR) -- Half a dozen people are doing OK after their boat began taking on water on the Umpqua River. The Coast Guard says the six boaters were at the jetty point of the Umpqua River Bar Friday morning when their boat took a hard wave across the bow. The wave shattered the boat's windshield and flooded the vessel. Good Samaritans rushed in to help pull two of the boaters from the water, and a Coast Guard crew arrived on the scene to rescue the others. The Coast Guard says the sunken boat is unrecoverable at this time.
