(Gresham, OR) -- New details are coming to light regarding a 26-year-old man accused of crashing into and killing an eleven-year-old boy in Gresham. Police say 26-year-old Garrett Berquist told officers he'd taken Xanax and Oxycontin for an old leg injury the night before Monday morning's crash. He added that he wasn't feeling the effects of the drugs when he got behind the wheel. Police say eleven-year-old Luis Medina was walking to class at Dexter McCarty Middle School Monday morning when Berquist struck him. Berquist is facing charges of manslaughter, DUII and reckless driving.
