(Salem, OR) -- An Oregon legislative committee is scheduled to vote today on a controversial cap-and-trade bill. The Joint Ways and Means Committee is expected to vote on Senate Bill 1530 following a hearing this morning. The vote is the final step before the bill can be scheduled for a vote before the full Senate. Oregon Public Broadcasting reports some Republican lawmakers are planning to walk out if the bill makes it to the full Senate floor as-is. Seven lawmakers tell OPB they'll walk out if the bill doesn't include a referral to voters or other substantial changes.
