Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Black Park Ranger

(Portland, OR)  --  A Portland man is facing bias crime charges after allegedly threatening the life of a Black park ranger.  Police arrested 30-year-old Zachary Hantz for the incident near West Burnside Street and Northwest Park Avenue on Sunday.  Police say Hantz was arguing with the Bureau of Parks and Recreation ranger when he started yelling racial slurs before pulling out a knife and pointing it at the ranger.  Prosecutors say the suspect also threatened a bystander who attempted to de-escalate the situation.
