(Portland, OR) -- Portland Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty says she would appoint a new interim police chief if she were put in charge of the Portland Police Bureau. That's one of several dozen bullet points included in a plan Hardesty has drafted for the bureau should she be appointed police commissioner. Mayor Ted Wheeler is currently serving as police commissioner and says he plans to stay in the role if he wins the November mayoral election. Wheeler's challenger Sarah Iannarone has said she would appoint Hardesty as police commissioner if she wins.
