Motorcyclist Dies In Crash After Fleeing Police

(Hood River, OR)  --  A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle while allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in Hood River County.  Oregon State Police say 34-year-old Lyle Halverson of Hood River was riding his motorcycle south on Baseline Road when an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation.  Police say Halverson initially stopped but then took off again.  Police caught up with him about a minute later on Toll Bridge Road south of Highway 35, where he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and entered oncoming traffic, crashing into a pickup truck.  He died from his injuries.  The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
