PPB Rolls Out New ID System

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Police Bureau is rolling out a new system is says will make it easier to identify its officers.  The bureau has been criticized for making it difficult to identify officers involved in crowd control for demonstrations.  The bureau says it initially started using numbers instead of names to prevent personal information about families from being posted online.  The Police Bureau will now assign a three-digit number to each officer that'll be stenciled on their helmet to make it easier to identify them if there are complaints.
