(Portland, OR) -- California condors at the Oregon Zoo are laying eggs at a record pace this year. Zoo officials say they've laid nine eggs so far, making this the fastest start to the year in the zoo's 18-year condor breeding program. The eggs take around 55 days to hatch. In 1982, there were only 22 condors left in the wild. There are now around 500 thanks to breeding programs like the Oregon Zoo's.
