(Portland, OR) -- The Oregon Humane Society is reminding pet owners to keep dogs and cats indoors during the extremely cold weather. Young and senior pets and pets with short coats are especially vulnerable to the cold temperatures. Pet owners can also rub petroleum jelly onto their pets' pads to protect them from the cold, salt and chemicals when out for a walk. The humane society is also urging pet owners to watch for antifreeze or other lethal chemicals that might drip from vehicles.
