Activists Protest Police Killing Of Daunte Wright

(Portland, OR) -- Activists in Portland are speaking out against the police killing of a young Black man in a Minneapolis suburb over the weekend. More than 100 demonstrators gathered at the Salmon Street Fountain last night for a vigil in honor of 20-year-old Daunte Wright. A police officer shot him Sunday during a traffic stop in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center. Police released body camera footage of the shooting earlier yesterday. On it, the 26-year police veteran is heard telling Wright not to run and warning him she's going to use her Taser before shooting him with her service revolver. Brooklyn Center's police chief says it appears the officer accidentally fired her gun.
