(Bonita Springs, FL)  --  Former Trail Blazers assistant coach Jack McKinney died at a hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.  He was 83.  He was Jack Ramsay's lead assistant on the Portland team that won the 1977 NBA championship.  He was named the Lakers head coach in 1979, but after a 9-and-4 start, McKinney suffered a brain injury in a bicycle accident.  McKinney later was the head coach of the Indiana Pacers and Kansas City Kings.
