The Bend Elks have put together back-to-back wins on the road after dropping 4-straight heading out on the road, and tonight can sweep the 3-game series in Wenatchee.

Last night, hometown favorite Justin Parsons smashed a solo home run to cap the win in the 9th inning, after Parson scored stealing home plate on a double-steal in the 7th inning.

Bend jumped out to a early 2-zip lead in the opening inning on a Vinny Zavolta double, followed by Chase Fernlund’s RBI single.

Left-handed pitcher Gil Luna went 7-strong frames on the mound for the Elks striking out 12 Applesox hitters earning his second straight win against Wenatchee in a week. Luna beat the Applesox on the 5th at home fanning 9 batters that night.

The Elks are 14-and-15 overall, but off to a 2-and-0 start to second-half play in the Westcoast League leading the Southern Division. Bend takes on the Applesox at 635 tonight online at Bend Elks dot Com.

In a related item, former Summit High star Troy Viola has elevated himself to be among the league leaders in the Westcoast League. Viola who plays for the Bellingham Bells out of San Jose State ranks 19th in hitting with a .298 average.

Viola is 2nd in Home Runs with 5, and 2nd with 20-runs batted in. In fact, the Third-baseman and former State Champion Summit Storm player belted a 3-run homer against the Elks here in Bend back on June 23rd.
