Elks Win, Blazers' Summer League, Oregon 24 MTB

NBA:

A glimpse of the Trail Blazers near future could be seen this afternoon as Summer League begins in Las Vegas. Second year guard Shaedon Sharpe and this year's number 3 overall pick Scoot Henderson could get some court time together during the 10 day, 5 game developmental season for rookies and younger players. The Blazers tip-off against Houston at 4.

As Free Agency deals continue, Portland has matched the Dallas Mavericks contract offer to Restricted Free Agent Matisse Thybulle.

College Baseball:

D1 Baseball has picked Oregon State as a likely team to wind up in Omaha next summer at the College World Series. The Beavers are returning a lot of players who came up just short of advancing to the Super Regionals this season. Oregon also received votes.

MLB:

The Mariners beat Houston 5 to 1 last night. All Star George Kirby picked up the win. Eugenio Suarez had 3 hits including a home run. Game 2 of the 4 game series First Pitch is at 5:10 today (Fr)

The Giants welcome last place Colorado for a weekend series. San Francisco is 2 and a half games behind slumping Arizona. The Dodgers have been hot recently and are just a half game out of first place. Rockies vs Giants first pitch is 7:15 tonight.

Soccer:

The 2nd place Portland Thorns play Gotham FC Sunday afternoon.

The Thorns will be without Crystal Dunn and Sophia Smith who will be playing for the U.S. Women’s Team in a friendly against Wales as a final tune-up before a Women’s World Cup match on the 21st.

The Bend Elks jumped out early and held off a 9th inning rally by Yakima Valley last night at Vince Genna Stadium. Bend takes the series against the Pippins and moves to 12 and 15 on the season; 5 and half games out of first. The Elks are in Portland tonight to start a series with the first place Pickles; winners of 8 of their last 10.

The Oregon 24 hour or 12 hour Mountain Bike race is tomorrow and Sunday starting and finishing at Wanoga Sno-Park. Watch for riders and support crews on the trails in that area.
